Our old vegetable peeler had gotten dull enough that extra pressure was needed... and due to that I was getting a lot of cut knuckles. My husband and I had seen the Titan advertised on television and our local news even did a segment on one. The segment was so positive I came here looking for a Titan.
I found this instead and am I glad I did. With three in a package, I was able to share one with my daughter and still have a spare. The handles are plastic, and since they aren't the sturdiest thing I've come across, I was a bit worried about the performance. There was no need. These little peelers work really, really well. For our Christmas meal I handed one to my granddaughter and asked her to peel potatoes. She seemed to have a problem with the peeler, so I decided to give it a shot myself. Wow! I think my granddaughter's problem was that she was trying to hold it like a vertical peeler.
And that little round opening that says it's for potato eyes? I thought it was merely a gimmick. Was I wrong! That little round opening cuts out the eyes so fast I was amazed! My granddaughter told me I'd have to mention that when I did my review *grin*
This peeler isn't the sturdiest thing that was ever made, and it will probably break in time. We'll see. I know I won't ever go back to a vertical peeler after trying these out. And if they break, well, they were only about $3.50 apiece, and I'd buy these again.
