As a bowl cover, this works great. It's quite sturdy and well constructed; the silicone creates a firm seal. I would recommend this large, more versatile size, as opposed to the smaller ones. This seals small and large containers alike. I wouldn't probably use this as a trivet or a splatter-guard, but it's marketed for all three uses.
