The main thing I love about these is the fact that they grind out of the top, so no messy grinding residue hits the counter when you put it down. I use one for black peppercorns, one for sea salt, and one for white peppercorns. They get used many times a day in my house, and are still going strong after about five years. I can imagine, as one reviewer mentioned, that using these for general spice grinding would be pretty tedious if you needed any kind of quantity, but for fresh pepper, they can't be beat.
